Wedding in West London Brentford

Kerry and Richard tied the knot on the day of Spring and were blessed with a snow blizzard and below zero temperatures. Don’t you love living in the UK? Well, to be fair this winter has been the coldest in very many years and there seems to be no end to it. I WANT SUNSHINE!!!! Still, it was an amazing wedding, the bride and groom didn’t let the snow spoil their big day. Kerry looked like a doll, she was so lovely, glowing with happiness and excitement. Her and Richard have 2 little girls, twins! Ruby and Scarlett, absolutely adorable in their little dresses.

They looked like a very happy family and it shows in the photos. Good on them! :-)

Wedding at the Swan Hotel in Bibury

There is nothing like spending  a summer’s day in the English countryside. I was in the Cotswolds to take pictures of Jason and Alex on their wedding day and the sun was shining! Glorious summer’s day in Bibury and its trout farm and majestic swans adding to the scenery . I spent the previous night in a traditional pub/B&B and felt quite grateful for a moment to be out of London, away from the city’s buzzing sounds and hectic vibe. I met Alex several times before the wedding and had warned me that it HAD to be sunny on the day of the wedding because it was to be held outdoors and she had no plan B. Needless to say I spent the week before the wedding hooked on the weather forecast channel. But her optimism paid off as it turned out to be a splendid day, the sunshine was out in all its glory and Bibury, with its lush green surroundings and traditional cobbled streets, making the perfect backdrop for stunning photography. The Swan Bibury is set in the picturesque Cotswold village of Bibury, on the banks of the River Coln. A walk across the stone bridge will bring you to the village of Arlington. It’s picture perfect literally. Thanks again for such a perfect day Alex and Jason and for choosing me to be your wedding photographer.

Congratulations to the bride and groom and bring on the sunshine!

Wedding at the Blueprint Café at the Design Museum

I met Nicky and Adrian at the Hilton Hotel in London Bridge, excited to be photographing a wedding in Central London. The ceremony was to be set at All Hallows Church by the Tower, overlooking The Towwer of London. It is London oldest church and displays an impressive crypt and the inside of the building is breathtaking. It’s not just Nicky and Adrian who thought it was a wonderful place to tie the knot, the sixth president of the United States married there in 1797 as well as Judge Jeffreys, the notorious “hanging judge” did in 1667.

A short walk away is the Blueprint Café at the Design Museum, a brilliant venue overlooking the Thames. In the evening you get a smashing view of Tower Bridge lit at night, perfect for night time wedding photography. The wedding went amazingly well and I was really pleased to be a part of it!

As well as doing Wedding photography in London, I have recently been shooting Interiors for Adrienne Chinn. She needed photographs of her flat in South London,  full of flea market finds and treasures lugged back in her suitcase from trips abroad. In her own words: “It’s a tad mid-century modern, with a dash of Art Deco, a smidgen of Chinese, and a sprinkle of Moroccan, all thrown together into a delicious eclectic concoction that’s totally me”.

In the bottom pic you can see Adrienne at home with a random pussycat who sneaked in through the open window and posed for the photo… True story!:-)

I love Adrienne’s style and hope to work with her again soon!

I have known Jade’s mum for some time now but all of us being so busy meant we hadn’t seen each other for a while. So it was absolutely lovely to hear back from her again with the news of her youngest daughter getting married! And of course she asked me to be the photographer for the occasion. Jade looked so cute in her lovely white dress and Gary looked well handsome in his uniform! _There is definitely something about uniforms…;-)

Anyway the ceremony was great, Richmond Registry Office is rather beautiful, they always decorate the place with  stunning flowers. Jade and Gary’s daughter was possibly the most adorable little girl I have seen, an absolute little poser, giving her best smile for the camera!

Congrats to Jade and Gary!

How to choose a good Wedding Photographer {WEDDING-TIPS}

Are you getting married? If so, congratulations!

When my husband and I got engaged, I found myself, like many brides to be, daydreaming about my special day, buzzing with excitement. What am I going to wear? Should I go for a traditional wedding gown or a quirky little number? Who should I invite? Will it be an intimate wedding with only my close family and friends, or a lavish celebration lasting several days?

Well, each to their own! one thing is for sure, your wedding will be one of the happiest days of your life! Having said that, getting your head around the immense task of organising a wedding can be quite daunting. So where to start?

Booking a venue is probably number one on the long list of things to sort out. No venue, no wedding. It’s that simple.

But once this is sorted, the NEXT thing you should look for, in my opinion, is a wedding photographer. And I mean LOOK. Properly. Don’t just settle for the first photographer you stumble upon. Take your time. More often than not, photographers you find on the first page of Google know how to market themselves. It doesn’t necessarily mean they will be the perfect photographer for you. Make sure you scroll through their photo gallery and see what you like.

Making sure you have a great photographer at your side on your wedding day is essential. Asking a friend to take photos at your wedding is tempting, as it could save you a bit of money but trust me, not only it is not fair on your friends as they won’t be able to relax and enjoy your big day, but shooting a wedding is not an easy task. A good photographer knows the rhythm of the proceedings and knows how to make you look wonderful, but most importantly they will give you beautiful photographs that have been professionally produced and carefully edited.

Never go for the cheapest OR the most expensive either; price should not be a deciding factor. Of course I am aware that, especially these days, budgets are restricted and some photographers can charge a huge amount of money for their services, but sometimes a couple of hundred pounds make a huge difference to the experience you will have with a photographer. If you REALLY like their style, drop them a line and see if  you can pay in instalments for example,  or if your wedding falls on a weekday, ask if there is any chance to get a little discount. That’s just an idea of course, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to find the perfect photographer for you.

Think about it. Once your wedding day is over, your wedding album is the only thing that will stay with you forever. Even the most wonderful memories do fade with time. A wedding album, however, is something you can physically hold and look at over and over again. The photographs will be the lasting testament of the most important day of your life and even your children and grand children will fondly look at them and treasure these memories like their own.

As well as liking their portfolio, I would say another key factor in choosing a photographer is their personality. You should always try to meet up with them before the wedding  and if, for whatever reason you cannot meet in person, you should at least have a chat on the phone, or Skype! After all they will follow you around for most of your wedding day as well as meet your family and friends. Ideally, you want to hire someone who has the ability to capture all the key moments of your wedding without taking centre stage. Someone discreet, patient and friendly.

A client of mine once told me of a nightmare photographer they met at one of their friend’s wedding. The guy literally took over, telling the bride and groom what to do all day long and complained they were behind schedule. Finally he announced he had waited long enough and wasn’t going to stay any longer. Never mind the speeches, never mind the first dance, he was off! Needless to say, the bride was devastated. Even writing this makes me cringe. It is YOUR wedding day, not theirs. Personally I can’t think of anything worse than having someone I hardly know dictating when photographs should be taken, how long it is going to take etc. Now, don’t get me wrong, a good wedding photographer should have visited the venue before hand, look for the best possible place to take beautiful portraits and so on. But really, this is something that should have been discussed prior to the wedding, between you and the photographer in order to have the day run as smoothly as possible.

Anyway, I could go on forever about why it is so important to make sure you book a good wedding photographer but if I can throw one last little advice it will be this one: BOOK EARLY! Once you set your heart on the perfect wedding photographer for you, the last thing you want to hear is that they are already booked!!!

Best of luck with your search and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch! If you haven’t already please scroll through my wedding portfolio! (To view images click here.)

Wedding at the Landmark Hotel London

Anu and David’s wedding celebrations started with a lavish ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in London. I caught a glimpse of the bridal suite where Anu was having her hair and make up done. It’s amazing! We joked with the bridesmaids and wedding organiser Natasha that the suite is bigger than our entire flat! Anyway, I quickly made my way to the ceremony room, impressive with its high ceiling and stunning chandeliers. Anu made a grand entrance at the arms of her father. As all eyes were on her, David’s smile said it all… The ceremony itself was really emotional as it often is with 2 people in love. The guests were then treated to a stunning reception and I’ll have to say a big thank you for the beautiful 3 course meal I was offered. I even had my own room with my private waiter! Surreal :-)

All in all, was a great night! 2 more weeks of celebrations and the bride and groom will finally be able to enjoy a well deserved honeymoon. Congratulations Anu and David!

Wedding Northfields House, Amberley {West sussex}

Lucy and Patrick got married in St.Michaels’ church in Amberley. I arrived early to shoot the flower arrangements prior to the ceremony, then I met up with Lucy and her bridesmaids at Lucy’s parent’s. The girls were enjoying a relaxing drink before getting started with the wedding preparations. Lucy wore a beautiful dress designed by one of her friends; as well as looking like a million dollars, the satin material of the dress photographed really well. The reception was held at Northfields House in West Sussex, an exceptionally fine country house, set in just over five acres of grounds. Perfect for many portraits of the bride and groom. The sun was shinning throughout the day and the party carried on well after we left, we were told! :-)

Wedding at the Gallivant Hotel, Rye {Camber sands}

Sarah and Ben got married in Camber, Rye, at the Gallivant Hotel, a cosy little hotel by the beach with seaside decor (think driftwood!).  I had never been to this part of England before and the beach and sand dunes, (miles of it!) were absolutely breathtaking. Great location for a perfect wedding. Sarah looked gorgeous, I really liked her dress, which had a kind of understated elegance, simple yet beautiful. The rain stayed away, which is always nice! So the wedding party was able to enjoy Champagne and canapes on the beach. After a wonderful day shooting, we drove back to London that night and encountered a dozen cows on the motorway! The poor things! they were all fine in the end as we pushed them out of the road with our car, trying to keep them together. I heard this happens quite regularly and they didn’t seem too phased by this unfortunate experience. Anyway, we were back home in no time, feeling pleased for Sarah and Ben! Congratulations to both of them!!!
